Project Description:
Deer Park School District is currently involved in the design development phase of planning for the construction of a new 52,800 SF Elementary School. It is our intent to provide this new building with the data, phone and TV connectivity needed to meet the academic demands of today's elementary school programs. The proposed systems would include the following:
Data/Phone - Universal data/phone ports will be provided in each classroom, office and work area via RJ45 wall mount jacks, Category 5e cable home runs to the communications closet, and universal patch panels. These ports will be of sufficient quantity and location to provide convenient access and maximum flexibility. A backbone of two 25-pair copper cables will be required to carry digital and analog voice signals from the far side of the building to the communications closet. Cat 5e cables will be routed from remote switch locations to a hub/repeater and on to the communications closet to transmit signal from those ports outside of the 300' range of the closet. This plan is based on "recycling" a phone switch that is currently in use at the Administration Office, upgrading its potential through new digital and analog cards, and adding capacity to the primary switch at Arcadia needed to accommodate this additional satellite facility.
TV - A shielded cable will be installed underground to the site from the USA Media primary cable location. A pedestal mount signal amplifier will be used to provide adequate signal strength to the building. The signal will then be modulated and distributed via the in-house coaxial cable network to the 30 monitors located throughout the building.
Fiber - A 12 strand fiber optic cable will be installed between the Arcadia Elementary School and the new Elementary School. This will provide connectivity to the District's data network, phone network and the Internet. This line will be approximately 2500 feet in length and will be installed underground in PVC conduit. This line wll have to cross under an existing city street en route to the new facility.
