INSTRUCTION INSTRUCTIONAL PROGRAM OFFERINGS

 

The school district shall identify and offer courses with content that recognizes:

A.

The basic education skills including the ability to:

1.

distinguish, interpret and make use of words, numbers and other symbols, including sound, colors, shapes and textures;

2.

organize words and other symbols into acceptable verbal and non- verbal forms of expression, and numbers into their appropriate functions;

3.

perform intellectual functions such as problem solving, decision making, goal setting, selecting, planning, predicting, experimenting, ordering and evaluating;

4.

use various muscles necessary for coordinating physical and mental functions,

B.

Instruction in reading; penmanship; spelling; mathematics; geography; English grammar; physiology; history; and science;

C.

The importance of the cultivation of manners; the fundamental principles of honesty, honor, industry and economy; the prevention of child abuse; hygiene,; and, the minimum requisites for good health including the beneficial effect of physical exercise and a special reference to the effects of alcohol and narcotics on the human system;

D.

The need to provide students with an opportunity for high school students to enroll in at least one high school course in the following areas of study: art, career education, computer education, consumer education, economics, environmental education, foreign language, health education, home and family life, music and remedial education (reading, language arts, and mathematics);

E.

The graduation requirements as adopted by the state board of education, and the board of directors;The following subjects are required to be offered:
