INSTRUCTION HEALTH, FAMILY LIFE AND SEX EDUCATION

 

Health, family life, sex education and related topics may be included in the instructional program as appropriate to the grade level and course of study. Interested parents and community members shall be encouraged to become involved in the planning, development, evaluation and revision of any instruction in sex education and human sexuality offered as a part of the school program.

The process for student participation in the program shall be left to the district health committee to decide, subject to Board approval, providing it does not violate state mandates in relation to AIDS education.

Parents may ask to review the materials to be used. Parents may at any time request in writing that their child be excluded from sex education/human sexuality classes. Students who do not participate shall be provided alternative educational opportunities.
