STUDENTS RELEASE OF RESIDENT STUDENTS

 

1.

The Board of Directors will continue to permit resident students to attend another district under the following conditions, and provided the non-resident district will accept the student.

2.

Deer Park School District will only release a student to another district if there exists a special hardship or detrimental condition of a financial, educational, safety or health factor. All factors utilized on behalf of the student seeking a release must be documented by competent authorities (i.e.; Medical = a medical doctor; Education = the superintendent of each district) provided also the hardship or condition is likely to be significantly alleviated as a result of the transfer.

A. Hardship conditions for consideration (but not limited to):

  1. Educational programs not offered by Deer Park School District that may be detrimental to a child's future education.
  2. Special parental supervision problems -- working parents or childcare problems.
  3. Financial hardships created by attending in-district.
  4. Special physical or health conditions.
  5. Students in grade eleven (11) who move into the district may complete their senior year in the dsitrict attended just prior to Deer Park attendance. In such case, the parent shall provide transportation for their child.
  6. If the student has been properly released, then Deer Park School District will release attendance funds to the receiving district.

 

Procedure:

  1. A resident student is one who lives four (4) nights or more each week in a home that is located within the boundaries of the district.
  2. Parents or guardians shall submit their request for transfer in writing (see application form "Application for Student Attendance in Nonresident District") to the superintendent.
