A message from the district superintendent:
Dear Volunteer,
You, by volunteering in the district's schools, have taken a crucial and self-initiated step toward improving the opportunity for the children in our community. Volunteering in our schools is a rewarding and pleasant experience. We are honored by your offer of assistance and will provide you with every opportunity to share first hand the excitement and joys of a learning community.
Sincerely,
Mick Miller
VOLUNTEER CHECKLIST:
One of the Volunteer Coordinators listed below can provide the paperwork and information for all of these questions.
QUESTIONS YOU MIGHT HAVE:
WHAT WILL BE EXPECTED OF ME AS A SCHOOL VOLUNTEER? Wherever you are placed, you are expected to be yourself! You should be reliable, flexible, and friendly.
HOW IMPORTANT IS MY COMMITMENT? The staff, teachers, and students count on you to be there when you say you will. Irregular attendance can result in educational and emotional disappointment.
WHAT SHOULD I DO IF OCCASIONALLY I CAN’T COME? Call the school office or volunteer coordinator and let them know. You will be missed but your call will show them that you care.
WHAT SHOULD I DO IF I’M NOT HAPPY WITH MY PLACEMENT OR HAVE A PROBLEM? We want our volunteers to be happy with their placements. We are always flexible. Please feel free to talk to the Teacher or Volunteer Coordinator if you are having any concerns. We will be most happy to help solve your problem or concern.
