District Office Administration

The Deer Park School District's administrative office is located inside the old Deer Park Elementary building. Constructed in 1920, this building continues to serve the school district today; the building was rededicated in 2005 as the A.R. Hegre Administration Building, in honor of the man who served as the Deer Park Elementary principal from 1952 - 1975. A large portion of the building presetnly functions as the "headquarters" of Deer Park's Home Link Program, while a smaller portion of the building serves as home to the school district's central office administrators, IT staff, special services, and copy shop.


Mick MillerDr. Becky Cooke - Superintendent:  This is Becky's first year in Deer Park Schools. Chosen by the school board in May of 2010, Becky assumed her duties on July 1, 2010. Prior to Deer Park, she served as principal at Prairie View Elementary School, Mead School District's newest school which she helped to open three years ago.  Prior to that post, she was principal at Evergreen Elementary School for eleven years, following service as a middle school assistant principal.  Dr. Cooke was a middle school teacher and administrator on the west side of the State prior to her time in Mead.

Becky's responsibilities include providing long-range vision and strategic leadership for the school district, oversight of the district's annual budget, supervision of the district's instructional and non-instructional programs and operations, working with all district personnel, as well as handling community relations. Shauna FergusonShauna Ferguson - Director of Business and Human Services: Shauna's tenure in Deer Park Schools is approaching 20 years.  In that time, she has assumed many roles in the district office.  Most recently (2009), Shauna added the management of the district's business operations. As business manager, Shauna's responsibilities include overseeing the daily operations of the school district in regards to the purchasing of equipment and supplies, payroll, investments, financial reports, tax collection, contracts, food service, transportation, state reporting, and all other financial matters. The business manager also assists the Superintendent in developing the annual budget, oversees the budgetary expenditures, and is involved in negotiations with the professional staff and support staff.  In addition to this work, Shauna also oversees issues and items related to personnel. Travis HansonTravis Hanson - Director of Curriculum, Assessment, and Technology: Travis entered this role in Deer Park Schools in 2005. Prior to working in Deer Park, he was a Technology Integration Specialist in the Mead School District. As Director of Curriculum, Assessment, and Technology, Travis is responsible for the alignment, review, and adoption of curriculum, administration of WASL testing in grades 3-12, overseeing the development of district benchmark testing initiatives, data warehousing, and management of both instructional and non-instructional technology throughout the district. Greg SwartzGreg Swartz - Director of Special Education: Greg has worked in Deer Park Schools for 16 years, most recently serving as district psychologist at Arcadia Elementary and Deer Park Elementary School. In 2006, Greg took over as Director of Special Services, a job that sees him develop, plan, and implement program goals and objectives for the district's Special Services department; perhaps Greg's most important duty however, is focused on overseeing policies and procedures which ensure quality programs for the special education and at-risk students served in Deer Park Schools. To this end, he directs and supervises the districts special education program staff, which includes special education teachers and support staff. Trip GoodallTrip Goodall - Director of Special Programs: After serving as principal of Deer Park High School for 10 years, Trip took over as Director of Special Programs at the beginning of the 2007 - 2008 school year. As Director of Special Programs, Trip oversees and manages the district's Title programs, LAP services (Learning Assistance Program), ELL/Migrant programs, and Talented and Gifted programs. Additionally, he manages the Stepping Stone After School Programs at Arcadia and Deer Park Middle School, and the district summer programs. Central Office Support Staff
In addition to the district administrators, we've got some wonderful (and vital!) folks working behind the scenes at our district office. These ladies play an integral role in the day to day operations of Deer Park Schools, making sure that school district operations run as smoothly as possible.
