Deer Park’s 6th grade Math is Cool team recently competed in the Math is Cool 6th Grade Championships held at Mt. Spokane HS on Friday, February 7th. Math is Cool competitions include both individual and team events. Individual events include completion of open-ended and multiple choice problem sets. Team events include open-ended problem sets, relays, pressure rounds, mental math, and college bowl rounds.

Deer Park was represented by the following students:  Nathanael Gilstrap, Kajin Tobeck, Matthew Bilbruck, Hunter Story, Sarah Curtis, Shayla Donaldson, Allie Michael, Miranda McCollough, Cory Root, Maxine White, Cody Krous, Nikolas Moran, Talon Munson, and Diana Kharchenko.

All of these students did exceptionally well – in fact, Deer Park placed 5th overall!  Deer Park had a couple strong individual performances, from Nathanael Gilstrap who placed 3rd overall and Matthew Billbruck, who placed 8th. Congratulations and well done to all the students and a huge thank-you to the program advisor, Mrs. Hibbard.
