Friday, January 7: TWO-HOUR LATE START (no a.m. preschool)
Schools in Deer Park will open two hours late on Friday, January 7th. With more snow in the forecast over the next 14 hours, a delayed start provides road crews with time to plow additional roads, it gives our facilities crews some extra time to prepare school buildings (shoveling walkways/clearing parking lots), and also allows families and staff additional time to navigate the difficult winter conditions.
Should conditions deteriorate significantly in the early morning hours or should we learn of any issues that compromise our ability to safely start the school day two hours late, it is our aim to inform families of a school closure between 7:00 am and 8:00 am. Please stay alert for that communication – as always, we will post updates at www.dpsd.org, we will inform local news outlets, and we will send communication to parents via phone and email.
Reminder: For those using school transportation, pick-up times will move forward by two hours on late-start days. Morning preschool is canceled. All schools will end the day according to their regular schedules and buses will transport students home at the normal time. All after-school activities will take place as scheduled unless there is notification otherwise later in the day.
