After a thorough search that included a deep pool of qualified and experienced candidates, Deer Park School District is pleased to announce the hiring of Russ Lodge as the new principal of Deer Park Elementary. Mr. Lodge, who will join Deer Park Elementary beginning in the 2016-17 school year, comes to Deer Park Schools from Helen Haller Elementary in the Sequim School District. Mr. Lodge has been an elementary principal in Sequim for the past four years. Prior to his tenure in Sequim, Mr. Lodge enjoyed over 20 successful years as a building administrator in elementary, middle, and high schools in the Missoula Public School system (Missoula, MT).

While Mr. Lodge is an experienced leader with a track record of success at every level, he stood out to the committee as a man of integrity whose respectful, caring, and confident demeanor inspires and reassures students and adults alike. One of Mr. Lodge’s previous supervisors shared the following: “Russ is the most genuine, authentic, calm, and dignified colleague I have worked with in my thirty-six years as an educator.” A current colleague said, “Mr. Lodge is a true professional educator with a laser focus on high expectations for all kids, he is committed to fostering a supportive building culture, and he possesses a deep understanding of best instructional practices…he is an amazing leader.” We can’t wait for the Deer Park community to meet Mr. Lodge and we’re excited about the addition of this exemplary leader to our schools.

Mr. Lodge replaces Deer Park Elementary Principal Bonnie Remington, who will be taking on a new role in the district beginning in the 2016-17 school year; in addition to her new role in Deer Park Schools, Mrs. Remington will also be working for ESD 101 to provide support and training to school districts throughout the North East Washington region. Mrs. Remington has enthusiastically served Deer Park’s K-5 population for 20 years and we are thrilled that she will continue to work with our kids and our community in this new capacity!
