In the mid-morning hours of May 30, administrators at Deer Park High School became aware of rumors circulating related to a potential violent threat. Response was swift and building administrators worked closely with the district’s Resource Deputy and local law enforcement to investigate. After a thorough investigation, it was determined that the rumors circulating amongst students were completely unsubstantiated and without credibility. In fact, there is no evidence that any threat was ever made. The safety of our kids continues to be our top priority. Again, there is no cause for alarm or concern and we have maintained normal operations throughout the district.
It’s important to mention that a number of conscientious and alert students reported these rumors to adults at the school. School safety is everyone’s responsibility and school officials can only act upon the information brought to their attention. Please help us by continuing to encourage your kids to share suspicious activity or concerning information with a person of authority in the school or directly with Deer Park’s School Resource Deputy.
