This is just a quick reminder for families that Friday, January 29th, is a district-wide half day. Historically, Deer Park School District has observed a half-day on the last Friday of January to help facilitate a smooth transition from the first to the second semester.
Elementary teachers are already busy preparing for the distribution of student report cards, while secondary teachers are wrapping first semester courses (grading first semester finals, submitting grades, preparing for the start of second-semester courses). With this in mind, all buildings will observe the same half-day schedule. On January 29th, students attending in-person (our “GOLD” group) will be dismissed around 12:00pm. Students riding the bus will be transported home at that time. Parents picking up their children should check the building websites for exact dismissal times.
As we wrap-up the first half of the 2020-21 school year, the entire DPSD staff would like to offer a sincere thank you for your ongoing support and partnership as we continue to work together to overcome the challenges the pandemic has thrown at us all. We’re really excited about the upcoming re-start of some athletics and activities programs in February and March – stay tuned in the week to come for more specific information about how your children can get involved in these programs.
