Today, our amazing preschool teachers spent the day diving into the science of reading during a full-day workshop! 📚✨ By learning the research-backed principles that support early literacy, they’re better equipped to help our youngest learners build strong reading foundations.
When children grasp the fundamentals of reading at an early age, it sets them up for long-term academic success, confidence, and a lifelong love of learning. Early literacy is more than just letters and sounds—it’s the first step toward unlocking a world of opportunities! 🌟

Home Link's Outdoor Education program had another successful launch this year. Students enjoy learning about nature, survival, and the environment. Not to mention, they get to see beautiful wildlife, too!

Home Link students, staff, and families joined on September 11 at the flag poles in Deer Park and Clayton. This was a time to remember, learn about the significance of September 11, and flag raising.

🌟 Kindergarteners are off to a fantastic start! 🌟
Our young learners are completing PBIS Jumpstart, where they’re discovering and practicing our school-wide expectations for the lunchroom and recess. 🥪⛹️♂️
We’re so proud of these little leaders for showing kindness, respect, and responsibility every step of the way! 💛

🐔📚 Third grade students in Ms. Brinkley's class dove into the fun and heartwarming story, "Interrupting Chicken"! Beyond enjoying the story, they explored what it truly means to be a learner.
Students discussed how being respectful looks in the classroom and why listening is just as important as speaking. Each student reflected on their own behavior and completed a thoughtful writing assignment: “Instead of being an interrupting chicken, I will…” 📝💡
It was wonderful to see our students think critically about their actions and set goals for being even more respectful and mindful learners. 🌟

✨ Staff Spotlight ✨
We are so proud to recognize one of our amazing Transportation Department team members - Ron Rasmussen, an amazing mechanic! 🚍
Ron not only ensures our buses—valued at over $250,000 each—are meticulously maintained and earn a 100% rating from the Washington State Patrol safety check ✅, but he also goes above and beyond for our staff and grounds. He is ALWAYS positive and willing to do what it takes to make sure everyone is taken care of.
Every morning, he arrives early to make sure buses are ready for drivers and our dirt parking lot is as safe as possible. His dedication keeps our students safe and our operations running smoothly. Thank you for all you do for our district and community, Ron! 💛
📌 Board Meeting Highlights
We were also grateful to see so many community members attend our recent board meeting. Attendees raised thoughtful questions regarding the old mill facility—discussing its challenges related to size, location, and ongoing use. We appreciate the community’s continued engagement and input as we navigate these important conversations together.

The school year is off to a great start at Arcadia Elementary School. Students in Ms. Durgin's 4th-grade class built community by reading a book, "One Word for Kids," and then each student chose a word to inspire them for the school year. Students then made a bracelet to remind themselves of their special word. Student words included: Brave, Confident, Active, Forgiving, Athlete, Fearless, Kind, Thankful, Hope, Fun, Proud, Happy, Artsy, Artist. Way to inspire excellence in a fun and creative way! What is your word to inspire others? #inspireexcellence

Preserving our Past. Planning our Future.
