This year, local churches and Architerra Home joined together in providing gifts for Deer Park students. With the help of some staff members, high school students, and a volunteer from one of the churches, all the gifts have been wrapped and distributed to the schools. The generosity has been truly amazing to see!

Some highlights from this week from HomeLink included a group of students, parents, and staff, led by Shannon Siemen, caroling after school at local businesses and homes around Deer Park.
In Mrs. Denham's "Dominos Rally" class, students learned about the various stacking techniques as they create one large combined train.
What fun!

Deer Park Rotary was proud to recognize our Student of the Month, Connor Hallgarth, from Deer Park FFA at today’s meeting! 🙌 With 4 years in FFA, he’s built a custom aluminum fuel tank for his truck in the shop, earned his FFA State Degree and is already working toward his American Degree. When he’s not active in FFA or the trapshooting club, you’ll find him running equipment in the hay fields—baling, stacking, and delivering. After graduation, he plans to pursue a career in diesel mechanics. 🚜🔧👏

Deer Park FFA also presented at Rotary and shared the many options and activities associated with FFA! Way to go, DPHS!

Our fourth graders at Deer Park Arcadia have been learning all about poetry!
Students are learning that poetry is a type of writing that uses creative words, feelings, and imagination to paint a picture in the reader’s mind. They are also learning that poems don’t always have to rhyme, but they often do, and that they use vivid details and strong images. To put their learning into practice, students wrote their own haikus that follow a 5-7-5 syllable pattern.

🌟Leading with Purpose for Our Students & Community 🌟

We are proud to share that our School Board members recently returned from the State Directors’ Conference! This year’s theme was "Purpose," a powerful reminder of the responsibility we hold in guiding our district.

Leading with purpose isn’t just about making decisions; it’s about leading with a clear vision and meaningful intent. For our board, this means:

🌱 Fostering growth for every student.
🤝 Creating a shared sense of meaning across our schools.
💙 Committing to something greater than ourselves.

By leading with authenticity and integrity, our goal is to inspire resilience, clarity, and confidence throughout our entire community. We are excited to bring these insights back home and continue making a positive impact!

🏀Welcome to DPSD, Sandy Zimmerman! 🏀

We are absolutely thrilled to welcome the incredible Sandy Zimmerman to the district today! From graduating from Selkirk to playing for the Zags, and making history by hitting the buzzer on American Ninja Warrior, Sandy shared her story of "Welfare to Warrior."

A National Teacher Hall of Fame inductee and author of a best-seller, "Get Out of the Car," Sandy reminds us all to DREAM BIG and TRY!

Her message to us today?
Start with belief—in yourself, or borrow it from others.
Keep the bar high and work hard every day to be the best.
Don’t blame, complain, or make excuses.
Listen to the empowering, positive voices.

Thank you, Sandy, for reminding us to keep the promises we make to ourselves and to never wait to be seen, valued, and heard.

Last Friday, our High School team placed 6th in the Unified Bowling event!
Students had an awesome time and gave it their all!
This year, Deer Park had 4 lanes instead of 2, so the event is growing, and we’re thrilled to be part of it. After bowling, the students headed to Selkirk’s Pizza to hang out and socialize, with lots of laughs and fun!

This morning, our bus drivers got the opportunity to engage in fire safety training. Spokane County Fire District 4 took our bus drivers through a fire-extinguisher simulation, where they had the chance to practice putting out fires on a bus. What a great opportunity!

Fifth graders at Arcadia held their annual Boo-Ography presentations on October 31st. Students selected a historical figure from Colonial times, conducted research on their historical figure, and then created and memorized monologue speeches in character. For their final presentation, they designed backdrops to represent their historical figure. On the day of Boo-Ography Presentations, community members, students at Arcadia, and school staff visited classrooms to see the students’ hard work. Dressed as their chosen figures, the fifth graders stayed in character throughout the presentations, reciting their monologues to visitors as they passed by.
