Welcome to the Arcadia Morning Music Club!
Dear Arcadia 5th Grade Families,
We are excited to offer the Arcadia Morning (AM) Music Club music class for 5th grade students interested in an advanced music performance opportunity. This club will begin on September 14th. Students may participate in instrumental band or performance choir.
When Does Music Club Meet?
AM Music Club begins when students arrive at 8:15 either by bus or by parent drop off. At arrival, students head straight to the music room. This provides approximately 25–30 minutes of instruction each morning.
Students who join are encouraged to commit to the program for the full school year. This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity; regular attendance and participation are important.
Band Students Will Need:
An instrument and pencil
Music book provided by school
Families may use a family-owned instrument or rent one from a local music store. Arcadia also has a limited number of instruments available for families who may need assistance.
Please check with Mr. Brown before purchasing an inexpensive instrument online. Many lower-cost instruments are difficult to play and can create unnecessary frustration for beginning musicians. Mr. Brown is happy to help you determine whether an instrument is a good choice before you purchase it.
Rehearsal Schedule
Our schedule will be somewhat flexible at the beginning of the year as students select instruments and enrollment is finalized. Students will begin the year by attending daily. Band students will then rehearse in smaller sectional groups, as listed below. Eventually, students will transition back to daily full-band rehearsals.
Here is the Fall Sectional Practice Schedule:
Monday- Flutes
Tuesday- Trumpets and Trombones
Wednesday- Clarinets and Saxophones
Thursday- Percussion
Friday- Choir
Performances
AM Music Club students will participate in at least two concerts during the school year. Tentative concert dates and locations will be shared below and may coincide with Middle School music events. Please note, that all dates are tentative and subject to change.
December 10 at 7:00 PM, Arcadia Gym, Winter Performance (Band Only)
December 17 at 7:00 PM, Deer Park Middle School, Winter Concert (Choir Only)
May 27 at 7:00 PM, Arcadia Gym, Spring Music Concert (Band and Choir)
